Letter to the Past

Dear past self      To be successful in a digital art class, you must think outside the box to create solutions to problems that might seem perplexing.  Most problems can be resolved with some creativity and photoshop skill.  The more you play around in photoshop, the more experienced and skilled you will become.  There's a big learning curve when it comes to photoshop, and the ability to implement design aspects that you picture in your head will present itself through continuous practice.  When you have become adroit, you will be able to create work like this. This project applies positive and negative space to create an image.  Even though there is no color, you can discern the different objects and animals in this image because of the contrast of black and white.  I am very pleased with how it turned out and I wouldn't change a thing.  I would say that this is the "best" creation i have made so far.  I used quotations be...

The Importance Of Art

"Tax dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high school. Public high schools should be about training young people to enter the workforce. Period." I disagree with this statement.  Art and music are forms of expression and they can really help people express feelings that they might not want to talk about.  People can also become musicians for a living, and the same with artists.  If there is a demand for the type of art you're producing, then you can make a profit. I believe that these classes are integral parts of school, and they are indeed very important in development.

What Art 1

1. The mood of these images is dark.  The red background portrays a dark tone.  The expressions on their faces are serious.  The first picture the girl is standing up, and the second girl is laying down. 2. I imagine these pictures are created using oil paint on a canvas.  3. I feel that the random brush strokes accentuate the mood of the painting by making it look more sloppy and less refined.  They're very realistic looking, but the paint strokes remind you that you're still looking at a painting. 4. After watching the TedTalk, I know that the artist was attempting to deceive you and make you believe the pictures are paintings.  She is excellent at depersonification and making you believe that the people are paint, when they are only coated in it.
